Island of Gozo...

Getting around in Gozo...

Below is a list of many different ways of travelling in Gozo. It is just a matter of personal preference and the length of your trip.

Public transport
This is the most popular option and the most convenient one too. Public transport is cheap and convenient. Our apartments are all allocated just a few meters away from the bus stop. The bus takes you to Victoria main bus terminal, from where you can get a connecting bus to everywhere on the island. If you are staying for a week, you can get a weekly pass, otherwise it is convenient to purchase the day ticket. For more information on public transport visit the following website:

Hop on/hop off bus
Seeing Gozo from an open-topped bus is the perfect way to appreciate ‘Calypso's island’, plus you get to see everything that Gozo has to offer. This is recommendable especially for those staying in Gozo for a short trip. In Gozo, there are a number of hop-on hop-off providers which offer a practical tour service linking all the most popular places of interest on the island and more. Each tour includes an audio commentary in several languages. For information about this service, please contact one of the following companies:

Bike hire
Since Gozo is so small, many like to travel by bicycle. Biking in Gozo is increasingly popular with locals and visitors alike. The island has a great deal to offer the cyclist, from rough walled alleyways and off-road tracks to long smooth roads where you can really pick up a good rhythm. For more information see:

Bike tour
If you’d like a bit of local knowledge or someone to cycle with, contact a cycling tour company. Experienced guides will choose routes that take in your interests and cater for your ability level. Rather than whizzing along the main roads, cycling guides will take you through the scenic route, along picturesque valleys with stunning views, and past prehistoric temples and other places of interest. And if you want something gentler, experienced guides will select downhill routes which will take in a variety of landscapes at a more relaxed pace!

Walking tours
Gozo is a small island with marvellous landscape and a rich history providing many wonderful experiences for the rambler. From peaceful country and hill walks to rambles along cliff-tops with panoramic views; from coastal paths past extraordinary natural features to heritage trails through the alleyways of the Knights of St John or the unique prehistoric landscape, there is something for everyone. Between autumn and late spring, Gozo’s countryside bursts into life revealing an incredible wealth of flora and fauna – particularly colourful wild flowers and scented herbs. With a temperate Mediterranean climate where sun and warmth are the norm even in winter, Gozo is perfect for an out-of season walking holiday. An excellent new publication, Gozo Walks, provides detailed route-maps and informative descriptions of the sights – natural, historical and cultural – you will come across on each walk.
